Ferrari ... Nuthin' like a Prancing Horse...

The video that @edyvw shared reminded me of a little event that happened here in Utah.

About 10-15 years ago, Maverik gas stations, had a contest for winning a Lamborghini Murcielago, painted in a stunning lime green color. Maverick paraded it around the state for about a year, to promote Maverik as your preferred c-store.

The man that eventually won the Lamborghini quickly realized that he couldn't afford to keep the car, so he decided he would sell it. But before doing so, after taking delivery of it, he took friends and family for a few joy rides. Within only a few hours of taking the keys, he had wrecked it.

I'd love to buy one but it would cost me another $50k because I have no more garage space left and would need to build a new one. I'm not leaving this outside.

When we were about to hit 280 southbound, I put our car in Insane mode, just in case, as he pulled out of the fast lane...
Earlier I was at a stoplight next to one of those pumped up Challengers... I put it in Insane mode and wifey said, "No you don't..."

Fun day all around. Beautiful Nor Cal day!
He would have hosed you anyway.

The Tesla won 3 outta 4? And you know that's the old M3P, right?
Today it probably depends on the driver.

The 488 GTB is 3.0 seconds 0-60; the M3P is 2.9.
Both cars have tested faster than that, but those are the published numbers.

Both are 10 second quarter mile cars... Regardless, it was so much fun following that Ferrari; a master piece!

With the money difference - should drag race a Plaid …
The Plaid is 1.9 second 0-60 and a low 9 second qtr mile car. Takes a pretty special car to touch those numbers...

A Tesla Model S Plaid has achieved a new record quarter-mile run in a remarkable 8.56 seconds – though it appears to have been gutted quite a bit.
Depending on your definition of a production car, the Model S Plaid is arguably the fastest-accelerating production vehicle in the world.
Of course there's the Nevera, if you got a cool $2.5M.

Even though I have a tidbit of jealousy, those are neat cars. I’ll never be able to own one. I think I enjoy the engine sound more than any other aspect of those cars. Truly salivating.

Though I can’t afford one, a commoner like me can still enthusiastically enjoy a niche car like my manual transmission Toyota minivan.

So it’s quite possible the Ferrari owner and a middle income guy like me could share the same passion for cars, but mine won’t win any trophies 😆

When I was in high school, there were Road Runners, Chevelles, Novas, Mustangs and even a 427 '68 Vette in the parking lot. And some tricked out V-Dubs. All super cool. Lotsa Honda 350's and 450's. Loved 'em all.
Tri-5 Chevys. There were $50 cars you could fix up! And so much more...

A few years later, you could get a 65-67 GTO, a 396 Chevelle, etc for a decent price. Build a motor. Great cars!
It's different today. Cars cost too much.

A key reason I got the M3P is it's kinda like the modern GTO; tons of performance for a low price, at least comparatively.
