The thing I cannot figure out is most of Asia essentially lives on rice, yet for the most part there historically very healthy. I haven't found anything to explain this. White rice has plenty of carbs and starch which turns to glucose, so its functionally no better than grain as best I can tell.
Well... that is changing. They now feed their kids chips and other packaged snacks and wash them down with sweet juice. KFC and McDonalds are now the choice of fast food. So you see a lot of chubby young folk.
 
My wife cut out sugar and the pounds just fell off her. I'm convinced and will be doing the same.

I tested myself, went from eating a pint of ice cream a every few days for ~6 months to zero ice cream and dropped 10 pounds within a month. Unchanged gym routine and diet otherwise. The first week was the worst, sugar cravings like mad and zero weight loss.
 
Forgive me but are you truly unaware of the fact that when boomers came of age (70's-80's) there was a huge shift in food production and processing towards making common food products addictive? A result and consequence of that food production was the depletion of nutrient content which thus compelled the consumption of greater amounts of (oftentimes addictive) foods to compensate? This all coincides with the uprise in the mass epidemic of type 2 diabetes development. To suggest otherwise is plain ignorance or denial of reality.

I quite literally watched my dad die last year because of this, not to mention countless other family members and friends who were aged as young as in their teenage years. There is an overwhelming mountain of evidence that supports what I have stated, it has become so bad that the offspring of these people are now dying in their young adult and middle age years in unprecedented numbers due to complications from engaging in similar habits.

Modal for the boomer generation is 1957, which is right around TV dinner and KD time, and fast food really took off right about the time they became adults in the late 70's / early 80's. So maybe the TV dinner lead to McDonalds? Don't know.

I am squarely in Gen X and I ate lots of KD because it was cheap, TV dinners and Fast food were definitely out, because they cost too much and no other reason.

I was 9 in 1957. My dad bought a brand new 57 Chevy in that copper color. It was beautiful. In the mid 60’s McDonalds opened in Richmond Va. It was one of the high school cruise thru s along with Shoneys and Bill’s Barbecue.

Don't want to get too in depth into it, but reasonable portion size is not a bad thing. That's what people don't get about European diets rich in fats, coupled with lower instances of obesity. They simply eat less and are OK when portion sizes a reasonable.
