My 2002 corolla and my mother's 2007 Rav4 hit their OCI mileage marks (7k and 5k resp.) so I got to use some of my rebate oils. The corolla had Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 and the Rav4 had Mobil 1 5w20 in them and both came out pretty dark (both are low mileage used cars of previous unknown service history). I put 4 quarts of the Castrol EDGE 5w30 in the Rav4 even though I usually use 5w20. I figured the Castrol EDGE is thin enough it should be perfectly fine this winter. I put all my odds and ends oil into the corolla, 2 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum 5w30, 1 quart of Castrol EDGE 5w30 and 1 quart of syntec 5w40. Each got a half bottle of lubro moly MoS2 just for kicks. I slightly overfilled both (by about 1/2 quart). I used purone filters for both.
Anyhow just though I would gloat that I was able to get my hands dirty today. Unless anything unforeseen comes up this will be my last oil change of the winter (one of the reasons for using synthetics).
