Quaker State Filters are on sale this week at Cdn Tire. 25% off the usual $6.99 price.
Who makes their filters (Champion)?
How does it compare to Wix?
I understand we can't get P1 filters in Canada; is Napa Gold on par for a reasonably priced filter?
Toyota house brand (Densco ?)are apparently good?
BTW, Atlas and Mingionne filters are available for $2.60 from A&A Auto Parts in Hamilton.

Thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.

FWIW in my Toyota (1ZZFE engine) I have used the Denso (Thailand) filters (both the short and long editions). Supposedly the Denso from Japan is superior but I have yet to see it in my travels. I have also used the corresponding Napa Gold filter.

The M1 line of filters does not seem to be distributed in Canada but I picked up a few while across the border.

picked up 2 QS filters and redeemed the $10 coupon

Absolutely correct.

The old green can Quaker State filters were Frams, but the white ones are Purolators. You might also want to check out the new Motomaster line as well. The filters with the black lettering are no longer manufactured by Fram and look to be well built.

Last week, CT had a promotion that if you spend $50+, you'll receive a $10 coupon for your next purchase valid till Oct 31st.

Bought one of those QS filters again for my GF's 2002 Accent last Saturday for $5.24 before taxes. They are identical to the Purolator PP currently on my Sonata.

Better construction, but made in China. I'd like to know if the media is any good in them. I'm always leary about anything Chinese as quality control tends to be non-existent.

There needs to be an underground rail road for filters to Canada. I know fleet filter tuned up the USPS for the Canadians ..but that limits you to NG's.

Maybe they can run a scab Purolator drop ship on the side (imagine shifty glance back and forth in a "scheming" manner).

So you know for sure the QS (Purolators) are made in China? I can't see any labeling the that effect or maybe I'm blind?

WIX are still made in NA?

Quaker State (Purolator) are made in the USA.
The new Motomaster filters are made in China, use to be made by Honeywell (Fram). The new Motomaster design is superior, basically the same type of construction as Champ/WIX/Purolator...ie no cardboard.
WIX are made all over the place, you would have to check the can for your application.

The last time I saw a product line under that name it was Esso/Exxon's name brand for their retail outlets.

All the contemporary references appear to point to China as the source.
