I have a whirlpool tub and I am currently replacing the faucet. It has a "Roman Faucet" style fixture, and it was originally a Valley brand part which seemed to be quite low quality.

I am looking to replace it with a high quality faucet. I have been looking at Delta and Moen faucets, although I am leaning towards Delta since they have facets that are more to my liking. Someone I know also mention Price Pfister faucets, and said that they are high quality. Personally, I have not heard of this brand (I am not up on my fixtures), but it does have a lifetime warranty and the company has a long history.

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding faucets? Does anyone have any opionions on the above three brands mentioned?

Any input apprectiated.

Moen, Delta and Price Pfister are all good brands - just buy their mid-line and above and you'll be fine. I've only had problems with contractor khrap el cheapout faucets.

My house was plumbed with all Moen faucets 10 years ago. They are all low/mid level models, nothing fancy. The kitchen faucet has had some problems but Moen keeps sending me free parts so I have a high regard for their service.

Delta seems to be the worst of the bunch.. moen seems to last nearly forever, though they can feel cheap sometimes, depends on how much $$$ you sink into it, of course.

Kohler and American standard seem to be quite good, Im redoing my c. 1922 bathroom with the American Standard 'standard' collection, which is true to the look of the era.

We are building a house right now. My wife looked at Moen, Kohler, Delta, Price Pfister, Hansgrohe, American Standard, Jado, Porcher, and 4-5 others. She picked all Kohler with a PVD finish. The whirlpool tub faucet she has pretty much settled on Devonshire Roman tub filler p/n K-T398-4 with brushed nickel finish. The prices on their website are MSRP & don't represent what you will pay. We received about 30% discount off list. They have a lifetime warranty with free replacement parts just like Moen. They were the only two with the free replacement parts that we could find. Local plumbing houses like Ferguson typically have better prices than Lowe's & Home Depot.

After doing some shopping, I found that I can get the Price Pfister Marielle faucet at a good price. I am not sure if this faucet can be used for 8" centres like my tub is drilled for though. Anyone know if this is a decent faucet?

I will never buy a faucet based on a "life time" warranty. Oh, I'll buy a good one..but never have any expectations of the warranty doing me any good. Sure they'll send you parts ..but Joe average consumer doesn't even do this simple task. If you've got a failure in a faucet 10 years from now, you're not likely to wait for Moen or whomever to send you the parts (if you have enough warning, sure). So I just buy it and maybe I'll service the old one ..and have it hang around taking up space for 10 years .........

Yes, mechtech, somewhere around $100 seems to be the plateau.

A neighbor had a problem with his Moen kitchen faucet. It looked like it would take about 2 weeks to get his free replacement part from Moen. Like many users of the Moen lifetime warranty, he just went out and bought the part himself.

I would buy Moen again, I think they are good faucets but I would rather have roll of toilet paper than their warranty. At least the toilet paper can be used as buttwipe or in an oil filter

you are not going to go wrong with any of those three.
I like the way that moens are designed better from a maintenance standpoint but most people never have to work on their faucets. they use the same cartridge in all of their faucets.

kohler makes really good faucets too but they are getting into the "upper end".

I've been very pleased with Moen's warranty. It is easily administered at any home depot.

I just walk to the plumbing department and point at a fixture that is like the one I have. Last time I just said "I need a replacement cartridge for a faucet like this".

The guy handed me one and set to check out at the front. The cartridge rang up at $0.00 and I was on my way.

I'm sticking with moen for now.

Jim, if it works that way at my Home Depot ..then it would be great(it may well work that way). I looked through my warranty booklet and all I got was an address.

Thanks for all the great advice, especially on Farah!

It looks like Moen is the most liked faucet by this group, and I have to say the my Moen kitchen and bath faucets all work well. However, I am limited in the amount of space I have to work with when installing this faucet, since I am coming in from the ceiling below. And since I am doing the install myself, I have to work within my limitations.

Looking at the installations, I looks like the only ones that would work with my setup is the Price Pfister or the Delta setup. Right now I am leaning towards Pfister since I found them at a discount store significantly cheaper than the other two makes. A local shop carries these faucets in stock, so I will go look at them in person after the weekend to see how well they are built. I already looked at Delta and Moen, and they seemed comparable in quality.

Thanks again, and feel free to offer more input and experience.

I had Moen in my last house. Good but eventually the finish goes like the others. So for this round, I fitted my new house with all Kohler. The quality appears to be better than Moen. Shop online and save quite a bit compared to plumbing stores and even thebig chain. The large chains don't always have the same selection and the same model may vary slightly too. Places like faucet.com always have coupons floating around, you can even ask (beg, flirt) the rep for what she knows about.

I have moanin' faucets (not Farah) at my place. In the morning, when I turn on the water to take a shower, it sounds like I just opened the gates to Hades. Charon sounds angry, with lots of air burbling and screaming in my pipes. That infernal racket gets sleepyhead going.

I replaced the last Delta faucet in my house when we remodeled the guest bathroom a few weeks ago.

The Delta faucets constantly dripped, and Delta refused to honor the "lifetime" warranty on the 1500 series monitor faucet in our master bath shower, even though they were only 4 years old when we started having problems. When contacted, even though I had the original documentation stating that the faucet had a "lifetime" warranty Delta replied that the product had been discontinued, therefore the warranty was no longer in effect. They offered to sell me updated components for $250.00.

When we did the master bath 5 years ago I replaced both drippy sink faucets, the waterfall faucet in the whirlpool tub, and the faucet for the shower with American Standard fixtures (no drips or problems since). The kitchen sink now has a Moen faucet, and with the remodel the guest bath has an American Standard sink faucet and Moen tub/shower combo unit.

I won't have another Delta faucet.

My advice leave plumbing access if need be for shower faucets.

There is no such thing as a non drip faucet. Get a name brand faucet so you can buy the simple replacement parts easily. Do not buy the store brand Lowes or Home Depot as parts are harder to obtain and likely to be in the future.

A faucet is a wear item. The real question is the water quality flowing into it and how it gets attacked or not by the impurities.

I own an expensive one($500 kitchen) that drips that is quite pretty, a Mico. I called the manufacturer who actually paid for a plumber to fix after coaxing. They never had it occur. However it was just solids in the water jambed into the valve.

People can state xxx brand never leaked but its really your water quality and luck
