Fake NGK plugs on Amazon

NGK has a fun "where to buy" section on their website.
That includes your major autorparts chains...Napa, AAP, AZ, Oreilly.
Should be safe at any of those.

It does not include Rock Auto, and there are instances where people received questionable parts from them.

Amazon is definitively questionable. I don't buy autoparts there.

NGK doesn't sell direct to consumers
I ordered them from their website about 2 months ago for my 2008 Liberty. If they stopped that then buy them from AAP, or use the link from their site of where to buy them.

I had to buy spark plugs for my Acura 3.2L, and bought them from Napa. The NGK Laser Iridiums were $14.00 a piece. I wasn’t going to chance it buying from Amazon or ebay.

This is their website: https://ngksparkplugs.com/en/. They have a "Where to buy" link but no direct or "store" option. One of the links is Parts Authority which Rockauto uses so anyone that's concerned that RA isn't an official seller can be assured they are in a roundabout way.

These guys, https://www.ngk.com/, do sell NGK as well as a dozen other brands as their main site is https://www.sparkplugs.com/. They claim to be an official NGK distributor though.

I bought them directly from NGK about 2 months ago. I see that option no longer exists.

Just this week, I ordered a set of NGK plugs from Advance Auto Parts. Great price with the coupon code and cashing in speedperks.

Plugs arrived and were shipped from the NGK facility in Irvine CA.

The site ngk.com is a third party reseller aka sparkplugs.com, but I assume they drop ship from NGK as well.
They do, as confirmed by NGK. They, AA, AZ, Napa and a others are authorized retailers. RA, Amazon and ebay are not.

Well, I been burned by Amazon... Do you have concerns with RockAuto? Thx...
For me personally.. I'm done with RockAuto.. So many destroyed/beat up parts boxes. Dark spots on them, wonder if that's where the forklift ran over them! It was rare I ever got anything not beat up from RA, so I gave up. Others might have awesome stories about how they NEVER received anything bad, but there were so many returns RA called me to complain that I was returning too many things! I told them to find better quality distributors. Nice, blame me, the customer for your lack of care warehouses, smart move!

I haven't been back to RA since and won't be. After all that, I've moved on to other retailers.. It's just not worth it for me to buy at RA

Posted it on here before but there was a guy on another automotive forum I hang out on saying he worked for Amazon and something like 75 percent of the name brand stuff they get is actually fakes. He said they were aware of the problem but didn't have a plan to deal with it.

Ive also noticed anytime someone has a problem with an oem part or name brand part on a forum when asked where they got it they always say Amazon.

RockAuto gets their NGK from authorized distributors though. Same place as every other legit source.

So where do you source your parts from?

Since the plugs last so long I buy them online from the dealer. The online prices were less than retail anywhere else I could find. A whole three cars worth in five years.

Rock Auto is legit and usually cheaper than Amazon :)

When you receive the RA shipment, google the return address. It will lead you to where they came from, usually Parts Authority or Auto Value

I've gotten some odd parts from RockAuto. Certainly legit, but the last time I got anything was mostly universal Anco wiper blade refills, which are hard to find these days in physical stores. But they were a random collection of parts, including some that looked like they'd been around for while. Some were labelled as made in Mexico and others in the United States - even mixing ones of the same sizes. They were all fine, but I'm sure that a lot of these were years old. It was also odd with some that had price tags for other retailers. They must have gotten them in liquidation and resold them.
