Looking at control arms for the wife's 2018 F150 and its interesting. Some brands like Mevotech list 12th and 13th gen compatibility while others like Moog do not. I wonder if there is any actual reason or simply because the newer trucks used the stamped clamshell instead of forged design?

I'm curious what fails? Why are you shopping these parts?
Lets try not to go too far off topic but most people just replace the entire upper arm on these instead of messing around with the ball joint. Its easy, especially if you are doing struts at the same time. And the cost difference is surprisingly little. As I'm swapping struts soon and the truck is 100,000 miles I was going to do upper arms while it was apart.

Yes the loaded control arms are starting to make more sense. Pressing bushings/ball joints takes labor + the price of the bushings/ball joints.
I have used moog in the past, but see people are starting diss them some. Can't help you on the questions. Mevotek is a brand I don't know a lot about.

Mevotech has three price points. Original Grade, Supreme and TTX. I would not recommend the lowest. Supreme has held up well for me.

I think like anything in some applications there's little or no difference between the grades. Maybe at the very least there are truly three grades of boots??

This is the list I get when looking up a 2018 F-150 with no VIN just for upper control arms:

i was going to change the coil overs in the front soon. was going to go with motorcraft. so motorcraft no longer makes them?

It depends. Ford does not offer a quick strut for these. Actually a lot of their quick strut offerings are going away because of low sales. With so many different configurations of F-150, a VIN is needed to determine what was originally installed on the vehicle. Also for reference, F-250-F-600 are all in the same listing of the catalog so VINs are 100% needed for those.
