The Mustang is in the body shop and insurance is covering a rental. Agency offered a 2015 F150 with 5000 miles on it for the same rate as the Kia Gia's so I took it. Its the Supercrew with the 5.5ft bed 4x4 and 5.0L V8. Basically the new version of my current truck with a bigger cab.

So far I've only put a few miles on it but I gotta say WOW. Definitely peppier! I don't know if its the weight loss or the small tweaks the 5.0L received but definitely quicker. Seems to handle a little better, too. Although I do have my 5100 leveling kit set a bit high. Interior feels a lot different, too.

Overall, it "feels smaller and lighter" than my 2011. Except the inside; the inside is quite roomy especially the back. Not all good, though. The hood has a recessed center section like the Crown Vic's had in the early-mid 90's. I guess it helps visibility but I think it looks poopy out the windshield :-p

They're good looking trucks if you don't look too close.

Being aluminum, the doors are super wavy. They look like they were crafted by a 90 year old man with Parkinson's. Totally unacceptable IMO.

Supercrews came with 5.5 or 6.5 foot beds. i would also like to see better paint quality on the doors and such. I looked at a $40k tacoma with a friend and its paint looks horrible on parts of the bumpers and stuff. You just don't get good paint anymore.

Good paint jobs are expensive. Paint is there just to slow the rusting up a while.

I hear you. IMHO anything longer than my Supercab (NOT superCREW) with 6.5ft bed will be increased trouble parking it small lots and structures. We also routinely fill the entire bed with various kid and family items for travelling so I wouldn't want to give up too much space.... but man oh man was it nice to have that extra room in the rear cab seats! Car seats fit in beautifully, and there are miles of leg room compared to my supercab (which in itself is MILES larger than the extended cab of my last truck '99 F250SD).

With the Supercrew type configuration, it keeps the length reasonable for garages and maneuverability. Drop the tailgate and you get 8' for plywood and such. It doesn't bother me much to have the shorter bed.

Buy a supercrew with a 6.5 foot bed and try to park it in most garages that a builder specs as a minimum. Doesn't work all that well.

My current supercrew with the 5.5 foot bed is the same length as my old supercab with a 6.5 foot bed. They barely fit in the "standard" 2 car garage. Add some depth and its fine.

The 1 foot taken out of the bed goes in the cab. Super roomy and comfortable for the family + dog. Can still haul 8 foot sheets of plywood and sheetrock fine with the tailgate down. It would be with the 6.5 foot bed too - been there and done that.

95% of the time the missing foot isn't an issue. And if you want it, they are available. You buy the truck that fits your needs, I'll buy mine.

For all the whining about people buying too big of a truck and hauling air, you'd think the bed being smaller would be applauded by a certain group on this board. After all, in their perspective nobody actually uses the bed anyways, right?

Let me guess. You have a 6.5' bed? The 8' boys are saying the same thing about you. I had a Superduty Crew with 8' bed. It's almost as easy to turn a train around.

My current 5.5' box works just fine for what I do. I do have to cant the mountain bike a tad but I wouldn't want to drag around another foot of truck everywhere to fix that. Hauls 12' lumber fine. Bags of chicken feed fit just fine.

Because it fits in my 20 foot air conditioned garage. The longer version will not fit.

And, South Florida is too hot to leave a vehicle outside in the summer. Makes life too uncomfortable.

Except these trucks would corrode being as they're aluminium.

We received 8 2016's in red,to our fleet at work. I've seen one minor paint blemish in all. Don't notice the orange peel if it's there.
