F1 Lost Wages already a joke

The cover is about 10" in diameter.

No they're not. They put on a public façade. Some sports expect that type of post-contest behavior whereas others could not care less and prefer to let their emotions flow publicly. Toto for the most part tells it like it is especially with regards to the performance of their own team, but I'm also aware that team principals must work every angle they can within the rules and if that means public campaigning or what some people may see as whining, so be it. Everyone whines.

I'm aware of what it is. As someone who had exposure to the press in a Div 1 program I can tell you the public persona is the result of coaching for those who have something to lose by not saying the "right things

I never remember Rafa or Roger ever saying anything negative during a post match interview. One time I remember Roger smashing his racket on court. Both have always been gracious in interviews. Djokovic is piece of crap and his interviews show that as does, his Covid crap in Australia., Coaching or not is irrelevant, Roger and Rafa have the stones to control what they say. Toto does not. Binotto did, Frederic still does and Kimi is Kimi. Will always be a fan of Kimi because he spoke his mind and not what he was told. Kimi would never ever accuse his team of sabotage like Lewis did. Shows strength of character.

I never said that second quote. You may want to edit that. Again certain sports expect post game interviews to come across a particular way. Sport is entertainment regardless of the sport in question. Some fans expect certain behaviors out of their athletes, but it's naïve to think they're like this privately. Only loser are gracious in losing. That's why they're losers.

How you lose is way more important than how you win. NOBODY wins all the time.

It's hard to believe they didn't know in advance about welding the manhole covers down. That's as basic as it gets in open wheel street circuits.

There are several videos of watching them prepare for the Long Beach Grand Prix. And among the first things they do is weld all of the manhole covers in place. The downforce of a Indy or F1 car at speed will suck those things up like a paper cup.
It was even in the Stalone movie

The big problem is there is no ramp space for the anticipated number of aircraft arriving. Raising fees is a way to weed out the riff raff since all of the local airports cannot accommodate all the aircraft that want to come here for the race.
anyway the fee is down to $750 now ,if your plane is riff raff size

8 minutes into the first practice session, two cars seriously damaged. Chassis destroyed. Loose drain covers. Practice session canceled, officials on track for inspections.
Locals seem to be 20 to 1 against the event. There has already been a massive impact on ability to get to work on the Strip, and now the race is here, it will be worse. Taxis and Ubers are refusing to take people to the Strip, they are stuck in traffic too long.
F1 people came into town like prima donnas. Said they would pay all expenses, then went to the County to cover half of the cost later. Demanded every business along the course pay a large fee based upon their building capacity. Threatened to build walls to block the view unless the juice was paid. Ticket prices and other costs (food, lodging) were through the roof, now they are, for the most part, way down.
Comparing Vegas to backwater third world places (Sochi, Long Beach, lol) isn't that appropriate. Normal traffic flow on the main arteries where the course was being built is just too heavy to take out of service.
This race hasn't helped the tourist industry, it has hurt it. Hotels increasing their rates initially by a factor of 4 to 10 hasn't helped. Now they are giving rooms away. Everything associated with F1 forgot the adage "You can shear a sheep any number of times, but you can only skin him once."
Ah, I know. The sophistication of Vegas. That feeling like you are at Elysee Palace while avoiding stepping into vomit is unforgettable.

Well, if you are among the drunk, unwashed masses of low class tourists that never leave downtown or the Strip, don't pretend you know anything about Las Vegas.
P.S. You forgot to mention the derelict illegal aliens you have to step around hawking leaflets of escort services and strip clubs.
