Phenomenal performance! I’m not a conspiracy theorist by nature, but today’s race does make me wonder if Hamilton’s pit stop was perhaps, dare I say it, “elongated” a little bit for the benefit of Alonso. His in and out laps really didn’t seem to be that much slower than Alonso’s, and yet the ground Alonso made up was spectacular.

Either way.... Great performance Louis!

sprint,
my parents gave the whole family tickets to Varekai for Christmas (they both retired, and wanted a family fling).

Quick trip down to see the show.

Very good (although I think qidam had a better told story).

My brother is going to marry the balancing contortionist (not that his wife agrees with him).

It was well managed, access was good (even with a family member in a wheelchair, access was good.

None of that "sardine" feeling that you get at a lot of events.

I'd be tempted to do the VIP thing if it was just the two of us.

I watched it - Unfortunately - didn't pay much attention as I had a phone call and various things to do on the computer (homework).

I did see the accident where one guy's car jumped up and almost squashed that other guy from the top. That was pretty crazy.

I also heard how the engines were 2.4L engines with a 19k redline! WOWie... I would like to see the oil they use!

Yes, I did see the McLaren cross the finish line.

Only difference: I watched it in California on TV unlike all you guys in Australia

I saw it, awesome way to start the F1 season. No conspiricy, Alonso is the reigning champion. I did think Raikonen looked impressive. Wonder if Massa would'of had anything for Kimi had he not bungled qualifying?

I watched it as well. Good 1st race of the season. As usual, the commentary & analysis was good - much better than the mess when it's on CBS. I actually will not watch it live on CBS & watch the replay on Speed with actual commentary & analysis.

It wasn't so much Massa bungling qualifying. Do you think Ferrari is going to allow Massa & Kimi to race each other or will Kimi or Massa be at the top of the pecking order? I'm inclined to think that Kimi will be given the reign, however, I'm usually wrong about this stuff.

mandated RPM limit this season. Last year most engines were exceeding 20,000RPM, at least in qualifying, with the Cosworth engine (possibly the best engine last year, yet no contracts with any team this season) exceeding that in most races.

Shannow VIP is $250 for me and $170 for 8yr old daughter. Wanna be very VIP for that price?

We had pretty good "standard" seats, and there was some stuff hidden from us. The VIPers had perfect vision of the lot.

Depends what you want. A programme costs $20, the CD around $30, Popcorn and a drink around $12 (Beer $7).

naa, Alonso put in some blindingly quick laps after Hamilton pitted, and his strategy was a little better (more fuel, longer middle stint) to allow this. There was no way he would challenge Hamilton during the race unless he made a mistake. It's just too difficult to pass with the stupid aero regs they use. If they went back to tunnels (dropped around '82 in F1) there would be less reliance on the front wing for downforce and so you could actually get a run on someone through a corner and draft them down the straights. The regulators keep taking mechanical grip off the cars (hence the grooved tyres and narrow tracks compared to the past) when in fact they need the aero grip clipped. All the engineers and drivers talk of this, yet no one with authority seems willing to go down this path.
