I just watched a new Netflix limited series production about the life of Ayrton Senna. It consists of six episodes with each about 60 minutes. It starts with his childhood racing go-carts in Brazil and progresses right up until his death at Imola. It's interspersed with actual racing footage and covers his intense rivalry with Prost, his family, his romantic life, as well as his battle with the FIA to improve safety. I'm not a huge F1 fan but from what I know of Senna and F1, it did seem to be very accurate to the facts and not get too far off course.

I'm interested since I love that era of F1, but I assume it's another 'Senna is God and Prost is evil' story which I'm so incredibly bored of.

I may scan through it just for the real and not-so-real racing footage but I'm not spending six hours on it.

I'm not finished with it, but its worthwhile so far.

I feel like even some of the not actual footage is recycled from another movie or program about F1. At times i had the "we've seen this" feeling. Particularly Sennas early years and his on stage with Xuxa.

I did not think (at least so far) that it painted either Senna or Prost in particularly good or bad light. I presents them both as feirce competitors that perhaps go about things in different ways.

I finished it yesterday and really enjoyed it! There is also a half hour show that shows the making of this series and it’s really interesting to see how much work they put into making this series as realistic as possible.

It's made by Brazilians and in Brazil, Senna is worshipped. He's probably bigger than Ronaldo or Pele.

I said the same thing and I think they're from the "Senna" movie (also on Netflix).
Particularly Sennas early years and his on stage with Xuxa.
They recreated that scene (the one where she kisses him multiple times on his cheeks, forehead, and so on.

That was good. It was impressive how they built car chassis (22 of them, I think) and were able to put different bodies on them to replicate cars from Formula Ford up to F1.

Just finished it. V. good. I must admit I wasn't following F1 back then or knew much about him but glad I do now. I have a client in Brazil and they were asking me when I was down on one of my visits about him knowing I was into tracking cars...I was a bit embarrassed not to know such a legendary driver.

Saw a news blurb that one of the "shrines" to Senna, presumably in Sao Paulo, was vandalized. If the public find the person or persons who did it before the authorities, they'll probably be stoned to death !

Oh boy.

I thought it was pretty good. I did think a lot of the same driving scenes were used over and over again throughout the episodes. I started thinking at some point he would hook up with the female journalist "Laura Harrison" (Kaya Scoldelario) at some point. The way she cries about him at the end is revealing in that regard.
