I'm not sure why Ron Dennis bashing became en vogue. Like his style or not, he built that team from the ground up, and there would be no McLaren without him.

Hearing Whiting talk, leave it to F1 to contrive a solution to a simple miscommunication, like when to wave a flag. "Prone to mistakes?" LOL. Hey Charlie, drivers are prone to mistakes as well, let's get rid of them, too!

That was an operational failure on the part of race control. I know a simple solution to that...it starts from the top.

I'd love to see what the FIA and F1 engineers would come up with if tasked to build a mousetrap.

Consider the fancy system of lights that Ferrari uses to tell the driver when to go after a pit stop. It's malfunctioned twice in the last year. Meanwhile other teams that use the old-school lollipops haven't had problems. The more complex the system, the more likely it is to malfunction.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me this, along with the supposed "solution", can be laid at the doorstep of Charlie Whiting. I think it's time for F-1 to wake up and take a serious look at that guy.

The sad thing is that the person originally groomed to replace Charlie has been poached by Ferrari.
