Woke up last Friday and soon realized I have a visible floater in my right eye. It's maybe 20 degrees to the right of center and 30 degrees above horizontal so not in direct vision but very noticeable. It's not a black spot but more like a black spot with some short threads hanging below it. It can be in almost sharp focus to disappeared depending on head inclination and when eyes are pointing. Interestingly I had a vision exam a month ago and the doc noted there was some vitreous detachment, a common condition due to aging that can cause floaters. He asked about floaters or flashes of light and at the time I had neither. Not much to be done about floaters unless they're severe enough to impede vision, apparently the brain will block them out after time I've read. When there's lots of stuff filling my vision like in the woods or in rooms with lots of stuff all around it really isn't noticeable but outside with lots of sky or in a room with white walls it's distracting and annoying. Not interested in anyone messing around in my eye at this point. Anyone else deal with this?

I have a floater in my right eye, the brain does not block them out when they are large enough to drift through your path of vision on the regular (which mine does). Fun: You can, if you try, focus on the floater and actually see what it looks like, it's pretty interesting (but no less annoying).

My floater looks like a dead spider hanging with it's legs curled underneath. Not amused. You guys aren't giving me hope.

Like this with only 2 or 3 legs. :(

I've had floaters for more than 20 years. You learn to live with them and eventually your brain just ignores them during activity. They can be somewhat distracting if you're reading a book and your eyes move back/forth frequently. But again, you just learn to deal with it.

Have had them for years. Usually they don't bother me, but once in a while they seem to pop up and get worse. Just another annoyance of life.

I had an upsetting PVD a couple years ago.. massive floaters and curtains.. was checked 5x for retina detachment/tear .. but fortunately none.
They said it gets better.. but not that I've noticed..
Farther bummer: It is annoyingly on my right eye.. sometimes have to blink a few times when shooting etc.

but overall not a structural or vision loss type of issue. The floaters can be intense on a bright day outside.

I've had floaters my whole life, and I've had multiple eye docs tell me to stay away from the various surgical options. Apparently they all have very high rates of complications.

Never heard of them until I walked out in the bright sun a couple years back and had multiple visible. I thought I was having an aneurysm or something, but my wife knew what they were. 🤷

Pretty annoying and I have a couple in the corners I constantly think a fly is buzzing me or a mouse is running into the corner. I had the light flashes really bad at first but now almost never do.

As stated you get mostly used to them.

I have a pulsing white spot that's visible when the sky is in the background. An optometrist said I have some vitreous detachment near the optic nerve.
I briefly had a black floater after I had surgery.

Depending on the bleed, most of the time they'll cauterize it with a laser. Very little pain, over very quickly. Scary stuff like a viterectomy is usually rare but not as bad as it looks.
