I would tend to agree but at the same time, higher prices hasn't done it yet. Around my area I see all kinds of the redesigned Chevy Silverados and Tahoes, plus lots of new Tundras- and supposedly none of these vehicles are selling particularly well so far (at least not as expected). I'd hate to see how many would be out there if they WERE selling as expected.

How expensive does fuel have to get before people start considering a smaller vehicle? For me it was $2.50 a gallon. The first time I put $60 of gas into my Explorer, I decided to start driving my little beater Neon more and carpooling and taking the bus. It costs half as much to drive the Neon at 34mpg and if I only drive 2 weeks a month, it really saves. But then I'm probably the cheapest b*stard you'll ever meet so I probably have a lower tolerance than most...
