Extending a spare tire hold down bolt

Recently I replaced my Sentra’s donut with a full size spare. The full size fit the trunk pan just fine but the hold down bolt was now too short. I wanted a bolt so it didn’t jostle around or become an unpredictable projectile in a crash.

Tried some longer looking bolts from various Hyundais but most were still too short.

Ended up measuring the bolt as an M8x1.25 and just found a 40mm coupling to extend the bolt with a 50mm threaded rod. All of this neatly assembled with some red Loctite into a perfect length. Many manufacturers seem to use that bolt size for the tire bracket.

Good for Nissan for making the well large enough to accommodate a full-size spare.
