I have been running extended OCI's for about 5 years and have a few questions about them.

My cars and trucks are older now and my jeep leaks even with a new rear main seal and new valve cover (99 grand cherokee 4.0L) it is just a tiny leak but I need to add about a 1/2 quart every 3,000 miles.

My cavalier (97 with 195k) burns oil and I have had to add almost 2 quarts (the sump is 4 quarts) during my 10k oci.

I am positive the average auto does not leak or burn a drop. With all the advertising of 15k oci's by mobil and 25k by Amsoil has anyone heard of a engine failure due to the owner having a false sense of security?

Lets face it, 80% of drivers out there probably never check their fluid levels! I was just wondering if this has been a big deal with the longer oci's and synthetics.

There was a thread related to one Amsoil dealer's (no one on BITOG that I'm aware of) failed sludge-prone Toyota. This was before the sludge problem was acknowledged by Amsoil, which now includes limited extended OCIs for certain year models.

Bare in mind, this guy admitted to not checking his oil in 27,000 miles, and used the "I've never had to do it before and never broken anything" type excuse. According to this guy, Amsoil paid for the engine rebuild, as Toyota denied coverage because the engine was full of sludge.
