.............Netscape to Outlook.

I have saved e-mail messages in folders in my Netscape e-mail account that I'd like to move to my Outlook e-mail account.

I find an "import" choice under "tools" on the Netscape toolbar, but not an export feature.

Is it possible to export those messages into Outlook?

IF you can figure out how to get them into the new email, you may want to try this so you can atleast have the emails in the new program: Open a hotmail/yahoo/google free email accounts then forward the email to that email and then send the email back..

good luck

Netscape uses a Unix style mailbox. Does Outlook import Unix style mail boxes?

Of course, I'm wondering why you want to use Outlook when there are other tools that will natively, and more safely use these existing mailboxes?

I think you should be able to first make a backup of your Netscape mail boxes, and then use outlook to import from the folder that contains your mailboxes.

I suggest making a backup in case Outlook hoses up your mailboxes.

java......

I had been using Netscape Communicator and their e-mail system for years. Zero problems.

Netscape is no longer functioning as a browser (their choice, not mine), so I switched to Internet Explorer for my desktop and laptop.

My default e-mail provider is still Netscape for the desktop, with Outlook set up for the laptop. I want to consolidate so I'm using one e-mail "format," i.e., Outlook.

I realize there are hordes of people who despise Microsoft (and Walmart), but it works for me, and more importantly, for my wife, who knows far less about P/Cs than I do (okay Overkill, that's not saying much, I know).

So, Firefox for the browser and T-Bird for the mail account?
Should I uninstall Netscape after downloading the Mozilla products?

Thanks for the advice.

There's no need to uninstall the product, just make sure that the one you want to use is set to be the default email client. It should ask you this upon install. Also, you might want to open Internet Explorer and go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Programs and make sure the proper product is selected in the drop-down box beside email.
