I once used a product called Protec Metal Treatment, I had good success with it. I bought it in bulk from a well service company doing service work on oil and gas patch. They claimed a $7000.00 barrow of the stuff saved their company $150,000 yearly on vehicle maintenance costs, they stopped selling it to me, I can no longer get it here. I now opt to syn blend or syn oil, conv. oil was all I needed with Protec.
I have seen a product called Xcelplus on the net, it was originally formulated in 70's by a man called Bishop from the States. Apparently Slick 50 bought into it and made a bad name for Bishop's product, Slick 50 changed Bishop's formula making Slick 50 snake oil. Bishop had a court dispute to disassociate himself from Slick 50.
Xcelplus is now martketing Bishop's original treatment recipe and backing it up with independant reports such as consumer report, U.S. military test, Government test and couple university studies. The tests results claim that this Xcelplus is the only metal treatment that does what it claims. One government study claimed that if every vehicle used this stuff it would have prevented energy crisis in 70's. Xcelplus claims their treatment is a one time only treatment, it puts a few microns coating on all metal parts for life time of engine, to remove the metal treatment it would have to be machined off.
If this product is proven I would use it in my gasser and Diesel, there is a formulation for both. I have never used it, has anyone? Is this snake oil?
xcelplus.com is where I found this product, I found it on search engine on oil additives. The tests I mentioned are at this site, worth a look, seems like credible sources on the testing of this product, all results are positive, no celebrity testimonials or endorsements.
If this product was discussed before then please let me know approx how far back the post is so I can dig it up and read it.
thanks
