I'm more amazed that people still buy stuff on fleaBay & then are surprised that it's fake.

I wish there was a better alternative.

I had to look up what a Swatch was. I wouldn't bother with it in the first place. I'd rather go to Walmart and pick up a Casio.

I wanted it sort of for nostalgia. A Casio would probably last longer.

This is getting ridiculous. Not only do we have to worry about autoparts, I got a Swatch on ebay and its fake. They are making fakes of cheap plastic watches. They are putting so much effort into a fake its ridiculous. The box, all the papers and everything looked almost perfect. Even a fake invoice was included. The invoice was for the wrong model so I got to investigating, taking the back off was the final confirmation. What a crazy world we are in these days. Even the knock offs are being knocked off.

Check out (I think it was Vice) video of a guy in the "Shoe District " in China. He makes according to him "Accurate reproductions " of really expensive shoes, but charges a tenth as much. He somehow got ahold of the brand new White Converse design and is charging $110 per pair. Converse is charging $1100 for the real ones. If these knock off companies just put a little more time and effort into a unique product.

I know of one doing the same at 53. The house has a reverse mortgage, the 53 year old has no marketable skills. When 90 year old mommy dies, he's going to be homeless.

So true.
Badddies should be noted clearly and banned from whatever platform they use.
The platform companies seem to operate with impunity too.
Take that into consideration when you decide with whom to deal.

While the soapbox is out: How about products which you cannot fix?
Sure, there are items which aren't economically fixable but there are others which should be and carry no support at all.
The expensive burr coffee grinder from Denmark just stops working (an electric motor which runs 90 seconds a day!) and I'm told to throw it away.

Look at the feedback, contact the seller, assess the price (too good to be true?), and ensure you're buying from a US seller. With Amazon, look in the right margin and ensure the item is sold by/shipped from Amazon (in lieu of some offshore third party).

This is not a sure thing; Amazon fulfills for 3rd parties and commingles their stock into Amazon's own.
