I recently replaced the internals of one of our toilets. My hands were blackened by the water turning black from the deteriorating washers inside the tank, for the bolts which hold it to the bowl.
Having installed the entire kit, I was glad the surging sound was gone while filling, as were the phantom fills.
But, the flush wasn't as powerful anymore. So today, I adjusted the flapper to max, and the powerful flush is back. Al Bundy would approve!
btw I did go back and replace the tube that goes from the valve to the fill tube, as I saw a slight drip--all the rubber severely hardens. But I removed the device which can restrict it (if desired).
Admittedly, I do often wonder what it would be like to be a shoe salesman. In 2024, it'd be terrible I should think.
