I paid close to $30K for the solar project, which was the solar array and a full re-roof with top notch shingles. I got 30% back from the Feds on my income taxes. Since I am on NEM2, I get 40+ cents per kWh for generation. Installed March 2018. I am way past break even point; for the foreseeable future I will pay about $10 per month to fuel the house (AC baby!) and the car.How much did you pay for the solar?
(edit) Solar is probably a lot closer to justifying itself in CA with your high electricity rates. It won't ever justify itself here as compared to the kwh from the electric co-op, but, I am interested in having it in order to buy as little power from ERCOT as possible.
Biggest no brainer given energy costs in Silicon Valley. Sometimes you get lucky.
