European Formula oil

Some newer VW/Audi vehicles, we'll see more of them as the EPAs more stringent emission rules phase in for 2025.
This is new to me. So the GPF would be before the Three Way Catalyst or After?

2025 would be the end of gasoline vehicles?

From what I understand, North America, does not require GPF. It is in Euro that requires it.

Wouldnt a GPF consider as a Catalyst? Why would it be in a muffler?
In 2025 more stringent standards for particulate matter limits will begin, I think it's technically a California standard but pretty much California is the driving force in emissions standards, and rightfully so given the number of large metro areas in California and their history with smog.

My mistake, its 2035 is end of gasoline vehicles to be sold.

My question eariler for you was the location of the GPF. I am assuming it is going to be after the TWC?

I only have 2 oils on my shelf:
Shell Helix 0W30 ECT C2/C3 (Pennzoil LX)
Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 (Pennzoil Euro)

the 40W goes in the race car motor (CA18DET) the 0W30 goes in everything else (All Japanese and 1 Saab.)

Jordan

I appreciate everyone’s comments. If y’all had an 04 Tundra which 5w-40 would y’all use? What brands are y’all’s favorites, is there a best option?

Not really. LL01 emphasize oxidation to ridiculous levels to increase OCI.
Other than that MB229.5 is much more stringent. I have BMW and I don’t use LL01 oils.
But the Castrol 5W40 also has MB-Approval 229.3/229.5, so it's MB229.5 and it's ridiculously resistant to oxidation, so what exactly makes it meh, other than it being a BP product whom I generally detest.

Performance numbers and the fact that for the same price you can get PAO based 0W40 or Mobil1 that has gentleman’s set: GTL, PAO and Esters.
If LL01 is so important to you, go Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40.
Also BMW specifically eliminated 0WXX oils in LL01 and LL04 category. So maybe Castrol 0W40 can pass it, who knows. I know that my last UOA on Edge 0W30 didn’t show any excessive oxidation. Castrol 0W40 sample is in mail.
