Hi
I own a 2000 year Volvo v40 with 2.0 liter gas/LPG powered engine, 190000 km. Some time ago, I noticed that if engine warms up to the operating temp, I can here a ticking sound when idle (3-4 ticks per second). When engine is cold it runs quietly. I have no pressure problems, no power loss, everything is ok, but this ticking is something Im afraid of.
Last time I decided to top up the oil with Maxlife 10w40 (there was Mobil semisynth 10w40) , and noticed that cold start is quiet - earlier I had this "tick tick" noise for 2-3 seconds when starting. But when only engine warms up (after about 15 mins) I can there this irritating ticking when idling.
Do you think auto-rx will help to solve this problem? After auto-rx cleaning - can I use maxlife oil, or it has no sense then?
ps. it takes about 0.5 liter of oil every 3000km - it doesn't burn it, but I can see a leak on my timing belt cover.
