Engine shaking and misfire after using bg44k.

I still find it fascinating everyone wants to ignore the P1380. Wonder what GM guru @clinebarger thinks? Would you chase the 1380 or the 0300 first?

Guessing there's a fault with the EBCM/ABS system....If the engine is actively misfiring at idle....Ignore P1380.

He needs to monitor live misfire data to see if a cylinder can be identified.

So I had misfire in cylinder 2 and 4, these sparkplugs have less than 26k miles but it was changed in 2014. My car was running fine but after I used the ACDELCO bg44k, I had severe misfire.

I added acdelco bg44k in my 2001 pontiac grand prix 3800v6 with 125k miles, on the second day to work, the car started shaking so bad while idling during a red light stop, when I drive there is less of shaking and vibrations, now I have P0300 and P1380 misfire, check engine light comes and goes. I changed my denso spark plug wires, acdelco ignition coils and ICM changed, while spark plugs and engine mounts were changed 9 years ago. Do you guys think bg44k caused engine misfire and shaking?
This happen to me with my neon using Cataclean. Maybe it was a fluke.

It is severe misfire wet that maybe caused by faulty ignition coils, plugs, or injectors. All are black, replace all the spark plugs, not worth cleaning for cheap ACDELCO. It is not fancy Iridium Denso/NGK that last 120k miles.
If it still misfire, check the fuel system (needs prof. mechanics), upstream O2 sensor and MAF signal, and lastly get a set of coils if fuel is fine.

I “only” use top tier fuel. But I have noticed twice after using a product like BG44 that some codes will show up. However, within 2 tanks of fresh gas the codes quit coming back. I would erase them every time they came up. Could just be a coincidence ????

The engine ran fine. You wouldn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. I just assumed something got dislodged.

So I found the engine coil for cylinder 1 and 4. Now the car is running fine but it has p420 code. I looked at the bank 2 sensor it is not constant. Seems like I need a catalytic converter. Should I try cataclean?

With all that misfiring going on, it dumped alot of junk down the exhaust no doubt. For now, I would just clear the code and take the car on a good run on the highway to heat up the CATS. Hopefully, that will burn off all that junk, and that will be the end of it. The CATS have 125K on them, so they are kinda old. If that doesn't work, try OXICAT. It is a bit stronger than Cataclean, so I've read. CATS are expensive and you already put money into this problem. Best of luck.
