Engine oil recommendation for Kubota MX6000 tractor

Nice machine! I would run any of the name brand heavy duty diesel synthetic 15w40's. Shell Rotella, Mobil Delvac, etc. Maybe go with a 5w40 if cold starting is an issue for you.

Any 15w-40 or 10w-30 HDEO will suffice. Kubota engines aren't picky about lubes and are renowned for longevity with simple routine maintenance.
Don't overthink this.

I run 10w-30 in my two Grand L series Kubotas and have had no issues for 20 years of operation.

I was thinking more along the lines of a 15w40 as this one has a turbocharged ~63hp engine in it, but like you say, it would probably live happily on a 10w30 HDEO as well.

I was thinking more along the lines of a 15w40 as this one has a turbocharged ~63hp engine in it, but like you say, it would probably live happily on a 10w30 HDEO as well.

I run 10w-30 because I do use mine to clear now in winter and I want the slight advantage of thinner lube for the starting ease. I don't have turbos, but even if I did, I'd still use 10w-30 for the winter starting issue. However, 15w-40 would also suffice quite well, IMO. I cannot find any reason to think that either would have any wear protection differences. I've run a few UOAs on mine over the years and found nothing but desirable results.

I use mine year round as well. I do find it starts with a little less effort when running a 5w-40 or 0w-40 when very cold. My first year with it was a stinker as it would not start in single digit temps. And it was brand new! Turns out the battery was not very strong, didn't have a block heater and the 15w-40 was a little thick.

Since that MX6000 has a DPF, I would be using a low SAPs synthetic oil rated for diesels to keep it from getting plugged up with sulfated ash. Plus, being a northern climate with year round use, a 0W or 5W (W=winter) rated oil is recommended for cold oil flow and easy starting. I would use the same thing I run in my 2012 BMW X5 turbo diesel (tuned, 350 HP, 515 ft-lb tq), which is Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30. It is at the top end of the 30 weight viscosity scale (12.0 cST @ 100C) and is an excellent all-around full synthetic motor oil for diesel and gasoline engines (search the forum for other's opinions as well). I run it in my daughter's BMW X3 with the N55 turbo gasoline engine as well. Plus, you can get it at Walmart for ~$27 for a 5 qt jug.

We run SAE 30 in tropical service but I’ve thought of going to 10w-30 even there.
