Engine oil flush.

I did a search on all parts of the forum and only came up with http://www.auto-rx.com/index.html I've never heard of that.

I need something that is safe for a turbo. The reason I want a engine oil flush is because of slight lifter tick in my car. I don't have time to take them out and clean them right now. I acually have revised lifters that have a much larger oil flow hole on the top of them and I shouldn't really have a lifter tick problem in the first place.

I don't know what the cause is, but I'm about due for a oil change and I wanted good advice on a product that is for sure safe on a turbo.

If possible, I'd like to find a product that I can get at Napa, Autozone, Advanced Parts, ect. Please don't recomend Lucas anything.

AutoRx is non solvent based and it's absolutely safe on turbocharger.

Please read up on AutoRx.

p.s. don't use ATF, 10-min flush, etc. You may risk your turbo bearings with those.

I know you were looking for something OTC, but you may want to look at AMSOIL Engine Flush. I used it when I changed over to Full Synthetic oil. Doesn't say anything about turbos, but I would think it would be OK.

I've used the Amsoil flush, and the only effect seemed to be to thin the oil so more ran out...kind'a expensive for that, 'cuz I drain the oil hot anyway.

Don't expect any benefit from a solvent flush. The Auto-Rx does work, but takes 1000 miles.

Based on my experience, I'd use Auto-Rx. I second Quest's comments about reading up on that product.

I've used it with good results and I'm currently using it as a maintenance dose for my Infiniti and Toyota.

You don't say what make/model ride you have, nor the mileage. Regardless, I'd avoid the "instant satisfaction in a can" and be patient over the 1,500 mile "clean" and 2,000 mile "rinse" phase with Auto-Rx.

I don't want to really make any recommendations, as I am not an expert on the 4G63 engine, but flushes aren't going to do much eaither way. They CAN in some situations be fairly harmful. Just as often they seem harmless. Just as often, they don't seem to do much. arx is about the only thing that's removed the 10k conventional oil scorched to my engine internals by the previous owner.

BTW, current fill is Redline 5W30, been there for 5k miles now.

Doesn't even look black yet.
