I an changing my trucks oil tomorrow and was thinking of doing another flush. What would be a good product to use that I can get at a regular part store

Forget the flush. Spend the money on better oil. The only flush I would trust is Amsoil and you would have to follow the directions. Longer term cleaning would be Kreen or Auto-Rx.

A quick flush is a gamble. If it loosens a big chunk of sludge and it plugs an oil galley, you are going to wish you had never done the flush.

Have you pulled the valve cover(s) to see how clean it is (or not)?

Yea I've seen under the valve covers . It wasnt sludge from oil it was like hard sooty carbon. I used an engine flush once but wanted to try something a little better

Don't bother. I bet that hard sooty carbon will have no ill effects on your engine performance.

Use a quality oil, synthetic for more cleaning detergents and call it a day.

A flush can cause more hard than good as stated before. I'm also pretty sure that your seals won't like the flush much.

Napa/Macs Engine Flush is a very good product.

PU seems to have gotten a reputation for being a great cleaning oil. They say it even gets the varnish. However all quality synthetic oils are excellent at cleaning. If your Walmart has PU, I would go for it, if not PP.

Those two are two of the best & easy to find and best value synthetic motor oils available. And thats a lot to say for something purchased at Walmart.

As I have pointed out before, MMO while it may help with cleaning, actually hurts the lubricity of the oil. For 20 minutes of flush the lubrication properties are not a big problem but again loosening large chunks of sludge are!

MMO is oil itself just a different base but it will lower your viscosity, using 20% is fine if you account for the viscosity drop on the front end.

It's hard to clean the valve-train with an idle flush, from what I've gathered.

Best to drive with good oil for a couple years, make sure the PCV system is fine and other maintenance is kept up. Then, if at that time you desire get something that is a non-solvent flush. I like Amsoil's, Lubegard's, and some other products. I've used Lubro Moly's Pro Line Engine Flush once, but after 2 uses of Amsoil's product. The Amsoil removed some grainy carbon deposits each time, however it's hard to know where it came from and it's not scientific. I didn't get extreme removal of anything with the LM, though that was well after I had gotten the vehicle into good maintenance practice for almost 2 years.

Caution for now is the best approach, IMO. If you use MMO, do that in the winter not the summer. Especially if you are doing any hauling still. The same goes for 'kreen treatment' cycles.

I have heard some good things about stp motor treatment. Like seafoam, it can be used as a flush, fuel additive, or constant cleaner.

STP? Just a brand owned by the Armored Auto Group along with their Armor All branded products. I'd only use STP Oil Treatment to quiet a noisy engine that I was about to sell. I don't see any reason to spend any money on any of their other products except the functional fluids like their brake fluid or PS fluid if it was the same cost as any other.

Anyway, why flush? The only benefit of a flush is to dilute oil if you're about to switch the type of oil, and that "benefit" is probably not significant anyway. Save your money and buy any good brand of the right type of motor oil for your car.

FYI while they own the brand products come from different sources. The STP Motor Oil is actually blended here in my home state of Missouri by JD Streett. While you can't tell everything from a VOA, the STP uses a similar add pack to Quaker State except even stouter, with a lower Noack as well.

Looks like a real sleeper to me, it's been fun to try anyway.
