I've gone to the Snappy Lube up the street for years to get my inspection done. Generally, good natured kids working there that do the inspection, comment on the Maxima and occasional dump off my extra oil/coolant.

They've changed somewhat recently, and not for the better. One of the new kids is a bit of jerk. I took my Taurus up there to get inspected and they proceeded to go over the whole car with a fine tooth comb...obviously trying to find anything they could sell me. Today I took the Maxima in and got the same treatment...they both checked the air filter not once but three times, checked the belts, started pulling the dipstick out (while his clipboard teetered on my RUNNING ENGINE!!!!

I walked out and told them to just do the inspection. The jerk says, "Hey you got a good car, but you could use a fuel injection service." Now, I recently saw this on consumerist:

http://consumerist.com/5086351/video-jiffylube-caught-upselling-car+damaging-repair-services

I told the jerk that it was not recommended by the manufacturer, he came back with "then why does the dealer do it?". I told him it was not a recommended service and he could potentially do a lot of damage. He didn't agree...and then walked over to a car running a....you guessed it, fuel injection service. I just cringed and vowed not to return there for my yearly inspection.

Where can I find the manufacturer documents (from the link) that were sent out to these places saying "DO NOT PERFORM THIS SERVICE"?

You don't have to provide any documents...you are the customer. Complain to the manager that the service writer is being combative, and if that doesn't work (it won't), ask for the District/Regional Manager's direct phone number. Each little shop that has "jerks" like that are quickly reigned in by their DM/RM, even if the management is the one pushing for these services (they are). And tell them you won't be back for XYZ specific reason, and that you will tell your friends.

I'm not looking to provide them with the documents. In the video I posted, it clearly shows documents from all the leading manufacturers stating NOT to do the flush. I googled but came up with nothing.

you're lucky you didn't get the "engine flush" treatment.

i had to quit riding with the wife when she didn't trust me to do her oil changes on her hot rod baby and took it to Iffy Lube. just loved it when they smeared their greasy lube fingers all over the fan belt and then showed the wife where the "rubber" was breaking down.

Not the sign of a good relationship. Did you do something to screw up her car in the past?

When you have you oil analysis it will tell if you have fuel in oil. The mentioned place is just trying to sell a probably unneeded service and the kid gets a commission. I use to go to said places for auto inspection and they would bring a oil cap to a female customer showing her that she had water under her oil cap and she needed fuel injector cleaning. Water is a product of the combustion in an engine you will always have some. I got me an honest mechanic that does my inspection for the last years.

However, your car would benefit from AutoRX eventually. That is a true "flush" if you in fact wish to call it that.

Fuel Injection cleaning? Unless your injectors are quite old, occasional use of Techron or Redline S1 additive are more than enough.

Are real cleaning of injectors would be removal, professional tear down, rebuilding, and bench flow testing, followed by blueprinting each one. Now, that is extreme

Daily dosing would be through something like Lube Control (LC) or Lucas UCL. It is the consensus here that Lube Control at least is not snake.
