Electrical Timer Help

The old timer went (not sure if it is old). I ordered exact replacement Inetrmatic T101. I still have it hooked up, I think I can do it, only 3 wires but I'm a bit concerned with it being so close to panel. See pic. As long as I shut that breaker off, I'm find right? It feeds in to the panel through and connect to breaker. The pic has a green arc around the metal conduit that feeds in to panel (breaker).

Any advice/recommendations? I can shut the whole house power switch too but should be ok with just that breaker?

Certainly shut off the breaker, but a wise person always checks the wires with a test light. You may be able to just replace the guts and not need to remove the old time box. Have you checked the power coming into the timer to make sure its the timer?

I did some research and the gears weren't ticking so I figured...wasn't bad, only 40 bucks for a new one. I removed the timer and fiddled around a bit and buddy said to listen and I didn't hear any ticking...which I previously did when it worked.

Being the cheapskate that I am (I consider myself as someone who wants to reduce the waste!) I am trying to see if I can obtain the "green/red thingies" on the plug in electrical timers. I am not sure if those can be purchased cost effectively.
