EGR delete?

The EGR does not function at WOT anyways, where cyl temps and plugs run the hottest.
So no need for cooler plugs at all.

Cooler plugs may be needed for a performance tune, of course.
part throttle spark knock from disconnecting an EGR system is kinda common, but this is not from hot plugs.

Thanks! I've got one range colder plugs on at the moment, which the tuner said would be sufficient. Usually two heat ranges colder is for forced induction, so I'll see if there's any knock/detonation/pinging before switching over.

I have a 9D477, but I don't have a 5E212 (which I had to look up by the way).

Fine then it goes on whatever weird thing you have in place of a 5E212. At least the ones for Mustangs do that. People like getting rid of the 9D477 to clean up the engine bay.

I've been told there's a resonator in place of the 5E212, but fellow BITOG folks reckon it was a 5E212 (cancelled now). I'm looking to ditch the 9D477 eventually, when I get a set of Stainless Works long tube headers.

You can tell that right away by reading the casually labeled "In diesel engines" section.

Most if not all of what is said is not true.

One thing is certain, it cars with a MAF sensor the EGR gas is counted for in the engine precisely. The second it is not there the light goes on. Then you'll be lucky if the car doesn't go into limp mode.

In US I just don't understand why people can't leave well enough alone. Since you are in Kuwait it matters little so go for it.

Here's a good one for bdcardinal. The tuner is going nuts. He had a hard time believing I have no oxygen sensors until he thoroughly went through the PCM.

I requested the EGR delete and guess what? I physically have all the EGR hardware, but there's no reference to the EGR system in the PCM, rendering the hardware useless. Guess I had a factory EGR delete to begin with.

EXACTLY. Typical programming strategy is to advance the timing as EGR dilutes the mixture, so that's where the part throttle knock comes from.

Like I said before, in the kindest way I can say it, your car is weird. It was probably cheaper for Ford to just shut off the EGR via the computer than to physically delete it from the vehicle.

I totally agree, no offense taken at all!

My '00 Crown Vic was the same, but I never knew about the EGR until the tuner told me. And all this time, I was thinking I must have been super lucky to not have to replace the EGR valve with high mileage on it. Guess now I know why.

Catalytic converters started appearing on late 2002 and newer vehicles. My tuner had a '02 Town Car, and he had all 4 catalytic converters on his, along with a functioning EGR system and oxygen sensors.

Not since 1995 in Kuwait. I believe the rest of the Gulf went lead free in 2000/2001, which explains why the vehicle was built the way it was.

Is it possible to add the forward O2s back in then? Since you are tuning anyway, and from an earlier pic you posted the wiring is there. Only problem would be whatever they have plugging the holes and how likely that is to come out.
