Remember when folks avoided eggs especially the yokes because of cholesterol? My wife never bought it. She said, "How can a food containing all ingredients necessary for life be harmful?" It looks like she may have been right. Choline helps move cholesterol through the bloodstream safely. Lecithin helps emulsify fats which prevent them from clumping together. Lutein and Zeaxanthin help helps reduce oxidative damage and oxidized cholesterol is harmful to arteries. Although they contain cholesterol this amount does not significantly raise cholesterol.

I should have no cholesterol issues with my egg consumption lol. wish it was so.

I remember when my grandmother was so careful not to eat eggs because they contain cholesterol on the advice of her Dr. She also avoided meats and ended up on a high carb diet which made her diabetes worse. That was in the 1970s. We now know that ingested cholesterol DOES NOT enter our bloodstream. The belief of the main-stream medical establishment that the cholesterol in eggs was bad came from junk science.

Since you bring this up I got a funny story about it. Many many years ago I was in seminar type class conducted by a dietician/nutritionist and she was big on eating egg whites only. Towards the end she said something to the effect, 'and really what can't you have to eat where you really can't do without the yolks?' Someone immediately piped up, "Deviled Eggs!" The place cracked up. I love deviled eggs, but in moderation, holidays mostly. Eat eggs about twice week, on the weekend. Total Cholesterol and triglycerides with yearly physical few weeks ago, just fine.

Do we know that? Like, Dr. Oz says that or there is actual evidence? I can't say I've heard that before. I have not been able to control my cholesterol via diet though, it seems to be more affected by my weight and level of fitness. (However when you only get a blood test once a year it's hard to say for sure.)

My doc never told me that ingested cholesterol doesn't enter your bloodstream though, and we've had lots of talks about cholesterol the past few years.

Eggs yolks increase cholesterol. We have mountains of good data on this for the last several decades .

Almost every single study you see to the contrary is bunk science designed to show a predetermined outcome by the egg industry . Like comparing eggs to a sausage mcmuffin and then saying that eggs don't raise cholesterol (...any more than sausage mcmuffins do above the baseline)

Or alternatively cherry picked info that doesn't translate holistically. Like stating choline helps to remove cholesterol while ignoring the big picture of how biology works

Phooey. Yolks don't increase blood cholesterol, your liver makes it.
...and your blood cholesterol increases from eating saturated fats and dietary cholesterol

It's so basic and well proven it Isn't even worth arguing about. Like the flat earth theory

At best you could say that at a certain point of dietary fats and cholesterol Intake that blood cholesterol level increases start to level off. Akin to throwing a match on a fire

So, I guess if your diet consists of a lot of sat fat and/or dietary cholesterol then bully for you

I'm with you on this man. Same with sodium.
Best to just live your life your way and eat the way you believe is best for you.
I work in senior care.
I see firsthand what a lifetime of treating one's body like an amusement park can do.
Just a matter of time before sugar is the new slow burning energy source;)

Around and Around we go with eggs it's gotta be 3 times a year it's debated in a thread some way or another.

Eat them they are a healthy and a complete protein how many that's up to you for your needs and goals.

I suggest you do some reading of modern peer reviewed studies.

Absolutely your body produces way more cholesterol

It’s about time to kill the boogie man. Cholesterol is simply a poorly used marker. Why? Why use something that is a marker ie something that is essential for health?

Triglycerides are a better marker because absolutely they come from eating the nasty stuff. The carbohydrates that glycate red blood cells from excess glucose, lead to excess insulin and cause inflammation increased blood pressure and heart disease

20% of ingested cholesterol enters the bloodstream, If you go to the extreme and ingest more than usual your body compensates and makes less.
