EFI has been in small engines for years, mainly in larger engines such as Kawasakis in higher end garden tractors and commercial mowers. I believe Kohler also has EFI on a few of their larger engines.
If the EFI is as reliable as the 30 yr Bosch efi in my 528es was, then it is an advance . I wonder if the price went up. My snow blower is probably the least used of my OPE. EFI lawnmowers will certainly reduce emissions
If the switch from carbs to EFI in motorcycles is any indication, hopefully the maintenance headaches associated with seasonally operated equipment will be reduced.
I'm thinking about leaking float bowls and gummed up jets, specifically.
prolly better but like many changes NOT necessary! many changes are mandated but for me if its not broke why fix it! small engines are said to be big polluters + as usual it will be fixed but will cost more to buy, usually less upkeep but costly to fix all the xtra UNNECESSITIES!!

Hmm electronic ignitons aren't technically necessary but I'll bet you don't go around looking for points and a condenser....
Truth is, you don't have a clue as to whether EFI would be an advantage here.
