@Glenda W, so Premium Guard is one of the product lines that match the PGI graph? I'm having zero success buying Service Pro, but I can get Premium Guard EX in the size I need.Numbers I was given. The graph is supposed to match those numbers.
Yes. These seem to be easiest to get for most.@Glenda W, so Premium Guard is one of the product lines that match the PGI graph? I'm having zero success buying Service Pro, but I can get Premium Guard EX in the size I need.
Thank you!! I have them ordered from eBay, appreciate your help!Yes. These seem to be easiest to get for most.
PG EX
Carquest Premium
Microgard Select
Ecogard Synthetic
Some STP XL based on location.
Premium Guard is PGI's (Premium Guard, Inc) own brand. Then there all the other brands made under the PGI umbrella ... that list has been posted in many threads.@Glenda W, so Premium Guard is one of the product lines that match the PGI graph? Ya, Most, if not all, of brands have different versions of media & builder. STP is a good example, different regions apparently have different versions of the same brand, some CL some PG. Even Service Pro has the "M" line & the "E" line with different media which are easily identifiable, but other brands may not be so easy to tell which is the "E" or "XL" or whatever label they put on if they have a notation at all. Premium Guard uses EX, so that was pretty easy to identify. That's why I was wary of that list, for all I know every one of the Federated items may be the OEM media, or all of the Valvoline, or any of them for that matter.Premium Guard is PGI's (Premium Guard, Inc) own brand. Guess I should have clarified that I was talking about the Extended versions under the PGI umbrella - I don't really pay much attention to the lower tier PGI filters brands. All of the Extended versions seems to be made in Asia, and all seems to be pretty much the same inside.Ya, Most, if not all, of brands have different versions of media & builder. I agree. My concern was that I wouldn't be able to tell which one was Extended, or if one brand didn't have an Extended version. The three that I have researched (SP, STP, PG) all have clearly designated Extended versions, not sure about the other 11 brands under the umbrella.Guess I should have clarified that I was talking about the Extended versions under the PGI umbrella - I don't really pay much attention to the lower tier PGI filters brands. There may not be an extended version filter in every brand under PGI. The extended version is probably going to advertised as an extended use filter on the box and by the seller spec info.I agree. Plenty good may not be good enough99% at 30 Microns is plenty good
Many OEM filters are 99% at 30 microns and in some cases even less for example my PF47E filter I use on my Chevy is 98% at 30 microns.
If they make an efficiency claim for all those different filter models, then they would have to run the ISO 4548-12 test to get the efficiency for each filter model. Fram has their own ISO test lab, so they can do it in-house. Their ISO efficiency spec is typically based on 3 filter models, all different sizes, and they average the efficiency of the three.I always wondered how accurate the efficiency rating are with so many different filter sizes and companies buying / selling ownership to other companies.
So many different media types, changes in media production (from various Countries), value engineering, etc…
Look at Fram website for 2025 Honda oil filter and there’s like 6 different filters they manufacture.

Bursting or leaking are the last things I'd worry about, the last filter I had leak was a PH30 when I was working at a gas station 50 years ago, & that was from hand tightening. The boss told me those had to be tightened with a wrench.I know there are better filters out there in filter world. But, I do OCI's at 3k. If I was doing OCI's at 8K-10K, I'd get a better filter. Haven't had a filter failure using OEM ( bursting or leaking )...And there cheap enough too. Haven't had any sludge issues either.
Any brands under the Premium Guard umbrella that is an EX, XL, E.Have a huge stash of OEM Toyota filters, about 5 OEM Honda filters left ( then a huge stash of Mahle and Renken). Either way, I'm using up my supply 1st. Then I will switch over to better filters. This is my problem, who makes an efficient filter for 3K oil changes ???? Not too expensive. On a budget. Just give me a NAME,,,or NAMES,,, and I will purchase them when the time comes. I purchase all my parts online. Always get free shipping........Too far to drive to an auto parts store. Not worth it. I'm so confused as to who makes an efficient oil filter at a reasonable price. There's always posts running around as to who makes a decent filter, then they change owners, or manufacture countries. I do know FRAM is out of the equation after First Brands went belly up. Please help me keep my beaters running.
