I'm working on a VW-family engine with inconel valves that appear to have a very stubborn carbon build up on the valve faces.
I've tried several solvents as well as more potent cleaners like Berryman's B12 chemtool and gunk engine parts cleaner (glorified varsol), but this stuff is giving me a run for my money.
I've soaked the valves in Kleen-flo Carb and Metal Parts cleaner (products KFL651, KFL652 and KFL653) a now discontinued product, and that seemed to be the only thing that softened the coating enough to allow me to remove about 30% of it in a media blasting cabinet, using walnut shells. I'm soaking them again for a second round of cleaning.
The kleen-flo stuff is POTENT...definitely high VOC, which is probably why they discontinued it, a long with most consumer products containing methylene chloride.
Has anyone come across a product with similar potency to that of Kleen-flo 651 652 653?
