1) Hit the reply button on the post you want to edit
2) Go to the link at the top of the page and change "newreply.php" to "editpost.php"

I've tried this 5 times ..doing exactly that and get a new post every time.

Here's my "reply" URL

http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/newreply.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB48&Number=727014&page=0&what=showflat&fpart=1&vc=1

Here's what I changed it to:

http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/editpost.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB48&Number=727014&page=0&what=showflat&fpart=1&vc=1

and each time a new post appears.

You had to leave out some detail.

Gary, that looks right to me.

And, I just edited this one following the directions.

Are you hitting "enter" after typing "editpost"

No, there's probably the detail that's missing and just taken for granted...maybe. I'm just hitting the CONTINUE button after altering the URL. That's why I thought that some detail was left out. I was expecting something like "OH!!! You did the natural and intuitive move that you've been conditioned to do. Naturally that won't work quite that way here."

I'll try it again without the "preview" feature.

Okay ..that's the detail that was missing.

Yep, I get into the edit mode if I move the cursor to the end of the URL, bypassing the post utility, and hitting ENTER. GO would have done it too, I imagine

No edit button for me. I'm using Firefox - opened up with IE - still no edit button.

I followed the advice earlier and put in editpost instead of newreply in the URL - and I was able to edit my post.
