Okay I am far from computer literate. I can get by but it is a struggle. So I check Youtube pretty much daily to kill my down time. When I open Youtube it shows 4 videos across in thumbnails and then I can scroll down. When I hover over a thumbnail the video will play. There is a scroll bar at the bottom. Up until today when I place my mouse cursor on the scroll bar a smaller box would pop up to show what will be playing at that spot in the video. Made skipping very easy. Today that smaller box no longer pops up. I hope I explained that correctly. What gives? How can I get the skip function back? Thanks

YouTube behaves differently based on the OS you're running, the browser you're running, the size of your browser window, if they're introduced a new change or feature (to some users but not all), and on and on and on.

What I'm saying is, just adjust to however it's working today. You might have to change that in a week too.

Are you signing into your Google/YT account first? Doing that sometimes can give you more functionality.

BTW, This is not "computer literacy", it's just general tips and tricks for navigating a specific application.

I just tried YT, it's just showing a 3-second highlight snippet when I hover the mouse. I have to open the video to get full functionality.

But YT Short will show a scroll bar.

This happens logged in to my account or not. Running YT in Win 11 in and Edge browser (skinned chrome says my developer nephew)

I am Windows 11 and Firefox browser. Not sure what version but it is up to date. I can watch most videos just by putting my cursor on the video thumbnail. No need to open them. Even when I open them starting yesterday I no longer have the scroll bar video box pop up to show what is happening at that point in the video. Something changed and I am not sure what it is. When I am watching a 30 minute plus video most of them have a ton of "fluff" that I would rather skip past. That is where the small video box comes in handy

I will try logging out and logging back in.
