Castrol Edge Syntec and Edge Titanium are on sale at Cdn Tire. What is the difference? Is one better? I do not understand why they are priced so close together. Roger

In Canada, Edge Syntec is their standard Group III synthetic and Edge Titanium is their premium synthetic. Neither claims to have an extended drain interval (distinct difference from the US product). The Edge Titanium should provide better wear protection.

0W oils still confuse me a bit. Oil starts out thick and gets thin as it heats up. In theory is Castrol EDGE 0W40 basically a thinner version of Castrol EDGE 10W40?

No.
In theory, 0w40 is a version of 10w40 that doesn't get as thick when it cools down.

Syntec is a 5L jug and the Titanium is 4.4L.

What year is that TSB from? Did Nissan spec synthetic oil only for your 1996 300ZX? Considering what conventional oil was like in 1996 compared to today I can see Nissan spec'ing a 10W-xx for a conventional oil in that high performance vehicle of that time period. Oil has come a long way in the last 19 years

Says 5W30 should only be used in extremely cold conditions (0F and below) and should't be used in driving extended high speeds or racing. Do not use 5W30 in turbo model. Do not use 5W20 in your Nissan. There's also a sticker under the hood that says 10W30 for 60F and below,10W40 for 60F and above,20W40 and 20W50 for hot climates.

GM used to be adamant about using 10w30 in the 3800 series II also, but many people have used 5w30 without a hitch. They even changed the recommendation to 5w30 in later years. I think the issue was that older 5w oils used to shear, and modern oils don't have as much of an issue. I'm sure your Z32 would be just fine with a 5w30 or 0w30 or 40.
I would see if there's a revised TSB.
