Wow this post went astray just a bit, buster I agree with you on most of your post about syntec being a bland oil overall, the GC is a great oil, however I think it could be updated, and probably was with Edge. With the other oils renaming their already outstanding name carrying market like PP etc, Castrol did need the "name cleaning". My biggest thing is Castrol did step up to the plate with Edge, and I think they done an outstanding job, yet many still want to use Castrol in general as the whipping boy. I think Castrol has two things going for it now...Edge, and GTX.
With Mobil you have to admit it's a leader still. Ege, and Ultra are still newish oils, they are just now catching up to Mobil 1 EP and other oils that Mobil was ahead of the pack by a long time. Although Ultra, and Edge may have a slight advantage on Mobil 1 oils now, Mobil did set the standard, and I doubt Mobil will sit back letting the market go past for very long.
Pennzoil is very accepted here in anything they do. I hope Ultra turns out to be half the oil it has already got credit for by the masses. I will say that Edge was beaten down by this time in introduction compared to Ultra, and even with good VOA's, UOA's etc etc Edge still received a rather elegant, and regular beating. Don't think I'm a Pennzoil hater in any way, I will be trying it just as soon as it hots the shelves at my local walmart... and when my next OCI comes up of course, no use in dumping perfectly good EP.
