After losing some expensive knives when they fell out of my pocket (even with a clip) I just buy a cheap one so I don't feel the pain when I lose it. I keep a sharpening kit by my recliner so keep whatever knife I happen to carry is sharp.

I’ve thankfully only felt that pain once and did the same. I replaced that BM with a Gerber and it didn’t hold up long. I know there are quality knives out there that cost less but didn’t want to keep looking so I went back to BM.

I'm the same way. The only knife I now carry is the Smith & Wesson Border Guard. They're a nice size, well made knife that come in several different blade styles. They hold an edge well, and best of all I can pick them up on sale at my local Big 5 for around $14.00 a pop. If I lose one it's no big deal, because I keep several "in stock", as well as a few in my vehicles. They do everything I require in a knife.

same for me.
And same with sunglasses. Half the time I am wearing tinted safety glasses i buy by the box on amazon.
And some flashlights...some.
I have a few tactical that are big money, but find myself using the Coast flashlights more often.
I just bought 6 pairs of readers off Amazon for $20 and change. I drop, scratch, and lose them all the time. For that price I won't get upset when I do.
