I cant stand that feature. Give me the hardware.

I don't like it either...they clog up with wood chips, then it won't adjust!

Now I just got to find one...in a couple weeks, doing the clutch next week.

the echo cs400 is on ebay right now for a great price (230-240) not reman.....new.... just thought id give you that pointer. I was having a hard time deciding between that and a husky ( a real husky not a poulon)...... no worries the echo is a solid well built saw....

Do not forget to buy that 6 pack of ultra oil on the same ticket. Stihl will double your warranty.

Well, I didn't buy the MS290...I bought the Stihl MS391 with an 18-inch bar. Its bigger than I probably need, but I figured it this way...buy a Stihl now, and buy a smaller Echo for limbing at a later date.

I typically work with my father (we cut firewood together), and in testing things out today; with me handling the butt end, and him limbing and cutting smaller stuff, we devoured a 18" diameter maple tree in short order.

I'm very happy with the MS391 so far...I'm going to order a couple extra chains and a second bar, just to have backup.

That should be a good saw for a long time to come, my buddy has the same one and for some reason it leaned itself out alot. Enough that it would have bogged badly in 18" maple, so your saw sounds like its fine.
Anyways sounds like a good day, cutting some wood with your Dad with a new saw.
