Don't you think that all cars should be able to use fluid extractor to evacuate old oil ? So that there is no chance for cross-threaded drain bolt or forget to reinstall drain bolt before filling new oil.

Also, mounting cartridge filter on top of engine is much easier to remove/install.

I can only speak for myself - yes. :D

I have two favorites. My daughters 1992 Camry 2.2 4 cyl. Drain plug is easy, but the top mounted filter makes this a no-mess change. Really surprised not to see a Camry mentioned on the other 5 pages.

Honorable mention (of my past cars), my 2000 Volvo S40. Plug was easy, but I thought the cartridge filter would be a pain. With the filter cup wrench, it wasn't. And being perpendicular to the floor, it was mess free.

Every other car I owned typically dripped oil down my arms when removing the filter.

my 01.5 VW Passat with the V6 would have been easy, but it had one of those [censored] plastic belly pans on it.

The easiest is my current vehicle, my 08 Jeep Wrangler. Just slide under to drain the oil, and then the filter is up front, and can easily be reached from up top, or down below.

I had a 1986 Toyota Tercel with the 1.5L 3AC 8 valve carbuerated engine. It was 4wd so the engine was mounted non-transversely.

To change the oil you crawled under, turned out the drain plug, enough ground clearance to do without jacks.

Oil filter was mounted right on the side of the engine block with nothing but open space around it. One could just reach right in, twist left, and away it went. Only drawback was the filter was mounted 90 degrees, so oil would fall down the side of the engine block no matter what you did.

1965 Ford full-size I-6 sedan. Slide drainpan underneath with foot. Unscrew drain plug from underneath hood (Plug is on side of oilpan); slide drain pan under filter. Unscrew filter. Screw on new filter, replace drain plug, 5 qts. oil. Back car up and pick up drain pan. Done.

After you have changed the oil and filter on any car its easier than the simplest car filter change.

Have yet to see one that is difficult after you have changed it once.

pretty easy on all my f-150's with the inline six.

also a buddy of mine had an old C-10 Chevy and that thing had a ridiculous amount of room around the engine, unreal. you could crawl right in next to the engine if you wanted to.

Last gen lumina with the 3.1 was pretty easy. GM even put a plastic spout under the filter to direct the oil past the frame.

I changed the first oil on a new gasoline engined F350. Aside from needing to hammer in a screw driver because of the gorilla that puts them on at the factory it was probably the easiest ever. They now come factory equipped with a remote filter setup that puts the filter roughly below the driver's feet. Being a truck all I needed was a wrench and a pan - NO RAMPS.
