Ear protection..

I know it's repetitive, but, double up, soft ear plugs and cans. Take it from an old guy that used to shoot on a weekly basis in my youth. Even though my hearing is now diminished, I seem more sensitive to range noise. Last trip to the range the guy in the lane next to me brought out a .40 cal and I almost had to leave. The report seemed so much sharper than my 9mm. Anyway, another recommendation to double up. For the soft foam plugs I recommend 3M EAR brand, they compress nicely so that you can get them deep in your ear, then expand well to totally seal.

I’ve got a couple pairs of electronic ear miffs and I use the foam plugs sometimes as well BUT my absolute favorites are these North Gun Muffler ear muffs. Probably at least 100 years old 🤣. Primary use now is wearing while I mow.

Peltor / 3M Tactical Sport for the past 16 years, on second set now. Never had to use any hearing protection while in army (artillery) back in the day ... :ROFLMAO:

Really you can never undo ear damage be as safe as you can be my friend!
Oh, I know. I mean, there's a large, public outdoor range we've been to and you need to put your hearing protection on when you park your car and get out. Parking is at the rifle end and there are some people there with rifles that I have no idea what they are, but they are outrageously loud. Anyone at the handgun side with just ear plugs better not walk down there. No doubt those shooters are wearing ear plugs and muffs.

Are electronic or "active" ear muffs quick enough ? Never used them but have always wondered.

Indeed, large high pressure rifle rounds are incredibly loud. My plugs and muffs, on in the truck too.
