Well, no. But there have been cases where a battery was damaged during repair and it caught on fire. The batteries inside portable devices are protected by the case and have minimal protection as bare batteries. Nothing like a tool battery in a hard plastic case.

Here’s an article on one of the fires. Most articles on these note that there was a bucket with sand. Doesn’t stop the fire, but slows it down.

In the store new they aren't likely to be charged or otherwise used. That's why the stores aren't catching on fire, but E-Bikes being charged right after being ridden do catch on fire.

The e-bikes that have issues are the cheap ones made in China or put together here with Chinese components.

I have a Specilaized e-bike-not cheap and there have been no accounts on those catching fire.

No manufacturer is immune. I quick search shows three models of Specialized bikes on recall for battery fires...up to a 2021 model. Issue was water intrusion into the battery compartment causing shorting and fires.

if conductive water (e.g., salt or chlorinated) penetrates the seal around the Control Pad, e.g., through repeated pressure-washing,

Less than 15%. They are still not burning down houses by the simple act of just plugging them in for recharging.-like the El Cheapo Chinese bikes. And the recall goes back 5 years.....

And I don't know any body who pressure washes a bike. Those circumstances are so specific it almost nonsensical.

Its a confusing description....who pressure washes with salt water? I can see salt water if parked near the ocean. The pressure washing claim seems to be more of an "excuse"...I've never head of pressure washing bikes...and they claim 15% of their customers did so?
