Duratrac or trailrunner

A few days ago the wife left for a horse show. 4x4 and the truck barely made it out past the 10 foot long mud puddle at the end of our driveway. Even without the trailer it barely made it through. Its not a good feeling when you think you will sink your truck and trailer with animals on it.

Duratracs are awesome all the way around... for about 25,000 miles and then even with tread left they get unruly. Toyo oc2.

Based on reading lots of reviews and threads on the subject... I'd probably suggest looking at DuraTrac's competitor from cooper, the S/T MAXX. It has a tougher/stiffer sidewall, harder rubber compound, and a quieter running tread pattern, especially when compared at higher mileage. The S/T MAXX has decent "luggyness" for some offroad dig.

Lots of people seem to have trouble with duratrac's on heavy vehicles or for towing applications. Not so much failures, just more to do with the way they track and wear being poor compared to "harder/stiffer" tires. The best thing about duratracs is that they are sticky and flexible, making them awesome in winter and awesome on light weight SUV's.
