Duramax 5w30 Dexos1

I'm concerned about the new oil my GM dealer is using, I have a late model GM truck with free oil changes, and noticed my dealer using a new oil brand called Duramax 5W30 dexos1. The service manager didn't seem to know much about it, plus wasn't too happy about the switching from the much higher price tag name brand. I tried doing a little homework on Duramax engine oil and found that its a private label brand, other than that couldn't really find much out there.

Any real insight or good info to pass on for this brand? Are recycled base stocks used to produce this oil?

If it's Dexos1, it should be fine. That is tougher to pass than just API SN or GF-5. For free, what's not to like.
