Oh I should mention the places that have White-Castle locations, their coffee is actually the closest I've found to Tim's. It's the only thing I go there for.
I frequent the locations around Florence, KY and Cincinnati, OH when visiting my friends yearly.

Heh, we have a state fair coming up where you can get donut burgers among many other deadly treats.

Years ago we went from the standard 8 cup maker (which makes 4 cups) to a 4 cup machine. Makes a better single cup of coffee. If we ever move though I'll probably buy a standard maker and just make a carafe for the day.

I have a four or six cup one at home (haven't used it so long so don't remember). I suspect it doesn't get warm enough, since no matter how cheap or how expensive the coffee is, no matter what the variety, it always tastes the same.

StevieC: I've been having my eye on the Bunn ones. One of these days, I'll do it.

Garak, even the used ones are generally still ok for long after. I got a steal of a deal on mine and it's awesome. It could be plumbed in with water from my RO unit but I just dump it in the top. It gets super hot and makes superior coffee. Love it!

I think the heat's what I really need. The Bunn ones at the wholesale club really are no more money than a fancy programmable bells and whistles consumer variety at most places. I don't need the bells and whistles, just good coffee and something that lasts.

The Tim Horton brewers that you can buy at Tim Hortons are made by Bunn and are good units. I have one of those but I would say that the commercial units are better and they run hotter.

I also noticed that the water flow through the grounds in the residential bunn unit from timmies is much slower than the commercial ones which is like a continual stream. So that might make a difference. The filter basket is also bigger in diameter so the grounds are more spread out. That also could contribute to it.

From what I understand the water temperature in these commercial units is kept 2 degrees under boiling water temperature when it's brewing and the plate temperature heating the glass pot is a further reduction in temperature once the brewing has finished but is still hotter than a residential unit.

Even economy grounds turn out really well in the commercial unit whereas in the residential unit you can taste that they aren't the best.
