I installed this app recently as I'm getting tired of Google remembering my search choices and plastering apps on chrome mobile. I delete the history every once in a while, but the adds are still annoying. And I don't want to install extra apps on my phone to block the adds as they have to run in the background, which is not efficient and kills battery needlessly.
Desktop is not an issue as I have an addblock extension. Chrome mobile doesn't allow this.
I also use Firefox mobile, but it's a bit laggy for some reason, even though I have a Galaxy S8. For reading forums, I don't like it for some reason.

DuckDuckGo is a fairly simple app, but is quite snappy. I like it so far for navigating forums.
I suspect it would be a good browser app for older and slower smartphones.

Have you looked into Startpage? It uses Google, but it doesn't log or track and doesn't use cookies, is based in Europe and therefore must abide by the more stringent EU privacy laws. It does, though, gather some platform and browser-name data in aggregate.

Its privacy policy is here.

It can be customised. This is my customised URL.

Oh, sure.

I should have mentioned the "hamburger" at the top right of that page, under which you can roll your own in Settings.

I had mine set for the "Night" theme, or whatever it was called — white type on a black background. Out of the blue, so to speak, "Night" turned into day and refuses to return.

I also keep DuckDuckGo handy, though.

I use duckduckgo.com almost all the time now, however I have not installed the app on my phone, maybe Ill try it some day. Right now, I just go to the duckduckgo website.

Agree with you, stupid allowing these super corporations using, packaging your data to sell on the open market.
But everyone does, all in the name of "free stuff" but its not free, its just whoring yourself out so you dont have to pay for something with cash.

Most Americans have NO CLUE that there is a log of EVERY SINGLE place you have ever visited with your smart phone. Yet its completely free to view on google.
Every place since you owned your smart phone will show up on a map with time, date and year.
Then people will cry about privacy but they dont really mean it, or they will lose their "free" stuff.

I have no idea why people patronize google ... its stupid .. oh wait, its free right? ha

SO ends the Sermon of the day! *L*

This site is free...

Everything free has a catch. Only an ignorant fool would think otherwise.

Empty words ^^^ google employee? :o)
The problem with that is some people believe you and it results in complacency and why these HUGE tech companies make so much money selling your private information.
There are ways to stop it, but it takes work. Same with email, retarded that people use gmail, plain stupid, keep feeding google with your money.
You can stop it with proton mail. But again, most people do not care and do not want to "bother"

Here are the facts - from duckduckgo =

"We don't store your
personal information. Ever.
Our privacy policy is simple: we don't collect
or share any of your personal information."

Can google or bing say that once your done reading all the pages of their privacy disclosure?

If this is android you are talking about, see if you can root the phone. If you could do that, your life becomes remarkably easy. If your phone supports, you can have android without a trace of google.

Just because you use a different search engine does not mean, google doesn't know anything about it. Look at your google maps, they are tracking everywhere your phone has been. Plus, it is not easy to find that out either. Hence, even though I have no coding experience whatsoever, I decided to root it with info from XDA. Most of the stuff is very well explained and relatively easy to do if you do your due research.

For the browser, use Samsung's internet browser, its everything that chrome is not.

There is an app, adaway. If you are rooted, its the first app you should use.
For YouTube, use Youtube Vanced.

I wasn't disagreeing with what you were saying. If people choose not to read the terms of service how is that google or any other tech companies fault?

Btw, do you know the terms of service for this site or the company it is hosted with? Are you sure they aren't collecting your info?
