They look great and I'm very happy with them.

Two of my three rebates have been approved and one is still pending.

Looks good. What was the third rebate you got? Mfr rebate?

Yeah. 60.00 from Vogue I believe.

You got Vogues? Sweet! Mustard & Mayo!

I was to buy Vogue Signature V Gold in size 235/45-17 for my E430 based on good customer reviews. I emailed Vogue they said it made in China. I choose Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring instead.

Pricing and COO aside, I think the Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring is a better tire anyhow. I know Cooper also has a rebate going so I'm sure you made out good.

That's right, but the rebates for tire brands themselves are very slow. Still waiting on the pre July 4th rebate for Continental. Have had similar delays with Michelin, Cooper, etc.

Update, got my new Continental DWS06s installed, and a new wheel alignment. Loving the quiet ride, the decreased slip angles. The installer told me he could have gotten a price close to what DTD charged me. I did the math, and I still came out ahead even paying for the mounting and balancing, because of the rebates. But not that big a difference.

My tires arrived as promised one week after placing the order (ground from AZ takes a while).
Applying for mail in rebate was very easy. We shall see when it arrives.

Finally got up to my parents to pick them up.

These GT Radial Champiro Ice Pros look like they will be nice tires! I know the tread pattern will do excellent in the snow and I believe the soft compound and amount of sipes will do excellent in the icy and hard packed stuff. Also looks like they will evacuate slush a lot better than Winterforce

Visually, the IcePros seem to have fewer sipes than higher-end models, but the large gaps between the tread blocks should help with packed snow and slush.

I was comparing them to the Winterforce they replaced. I'll enjoy the quietness of them over the studded tires.

THESE TIRES SMELL AWFUL.

I have had new sets of tires hang out in the apartment before. They give off an almost pleasant rubber aroma. These things smell horrible. I need to mount them up and get them outside ASAP. Must be some sort of anti-oxidization agent while they wait to be installed. Smells like decaying dog fecal matter on the tires.

GT Radial Champiro are made in China, you don't know what kind of rubber Chinese use to make these tires, and you don't know what other materials they mixed with. As of now I avoid Chinese made tires.

Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to spend $600 every other year on a set of Michelins that will dry rot in 24 months.

And most companies make tires in China now.

The last Michelin set I had was Harmony about 10-12 years ago for my LS400. This car is hard on tire, most didn't lasted more than 30-35k miles, but Harmony lasted 80-90k miles. So the extra cost of about $30-40/ea paid for itself after 40-50k miles. Since then I didn't have any Michelin set, and most of the time I spent less than $400-450 installed for my cars.

The most expensive set was for MB E430 with size 235/45-17 W-rated Continental DWS were around $450 installed. But lately I paid no more than $300-350 installed after rebate(s), even for my S2000 (215/45-17 Front 245/40-17 Rear).

The latest set for MB E430 was Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring 235/45-17 W-rated for $352 after $195 rebates from America's Tire 2 weeks ago. This set replaced the Kumho 4X with 2/32" tread remaining.

I printed the lowest price I found online to have AT price matches, add tax and installation minus rebates is my final OTC cost.

Yes, I tried to maximize my tire dollars but I still can't bring myself to install Chinese made tires on my cars, especially no name Chinese tires. I had many brands from Yokohama to Continental to Sumitomo to Falken to Hankook to Kumho ... most of them are second tier but they are much safer than Chinese tires.

By the way, which vehicle did you buy this GT Radial Champiro winter tire for ? Is it for Focus ?

GT Radial is not "Linglong", "Ohtshu", "Primewell", "Westlake", "Crosswind" - they have probably the best reputation of the chinese tire manufacturers. Even OE on BMW cars.

They are for the Focus. The Jeep is getting the old tried and true Nokian Vatiiva for this winter. But it doesn't get driven much in the winter.

BMW is getting cheaper every year. Even the lowly 2014 Accord LX has made in USA Continental as OE tire.

Reduce cost is 1 thing using Chinese tires as OE is totally another thing. Especially from a known luxury German car maker.

They don't want to. They want to make it as difficult as possible and decline as many legitimate applications as they can to minimize payout, so that their bottom line will look better the next quarterly report.

Only honest companies like AT/DT/DTD don't play game, what you see on their sites is what you will get and get it quickly.
