Depends on the junkyard... the ones near me, not just worn, but exposed to rain and nasty. But not places are run like that.

Giving the fact that almost two years have passed since your initial post, I suppose you have managed to find a new driver's seat. That's why I would like to get an update on your current situation. A new driver seat is always expensive, and it doesn't matter if you have a BMW or a Toyota, it will always be expensive. In order to make it less expensive, if I were you, I would look for a comfortable seat cushion like the one I saw in this review from https://atfulldrive.com/purple-seat-cushion-review. They seem to be made from high-quality materials and look expensive.

before you necro a thread to ask the OP a question you should verify whether the OP has even logged in recently. THIS OP hasn’t logged in since 2019...

When BIL got to 400k in his GM 1500 … this would be the wore out ranking
driver seat
front suspension
transmission
engine

I know this is a necro-thread but a quick and dirty seat fix I found for my '92 F250 buckets was to remove the cover material from the, uh, seat of the seat to expose the poor foam I've been sitting on and then simply cut appropriately sized pieces from an old camping pad and place them on top of the worn foam. Not exactly like new but after breaking in the new foam it is quite a bit more comfortable and the bits of metal frame no longer poke me. 3/8-1/2 inch closed cell foam worked for me and cost nothing since it was just gathering dust in the shed.

I'd either put up with the discomfort ( how bad can it be?) or cut my losses and get a better car. With that old of a car I'm sure there are other issues with it.... unless the car is a creampuff.
That old of a car?? My 2 everyday drivers are much older and in absolute sweet condition and always kept in tip shape and it’s much cheaper to do so than buying a new car for me. 1990 Toyota 4x4 single cab I’ll drive till death do us part and 94 ford e150 conversion van that truly is a cream puff. Just put it up for the winter last weekend when I heard snow was coming. Found that van 3 years ago with 19,800 miles on it and showroom mint. For some reason I just prefer old vehicles. 2005 would be like a new car in my case. Lol
