Driver license cash grab

Nope, all that was payed for with the original issued licenses and fees. It takes $3.50 to make a new license copy and that's all the registrar is getting and the remaining $20 is going to the state. I don't understand what difference fully renewing the licenses expiration early could make. I'm not saying $25 is a big deal but if you have to pay it as early as a few months later than it can be.

They love to sell you registration at near full price that's pro-rated in time. It's not right to pro-rate the time on a license or registration without pro-rating the fee.

It's the entire reason the DMV exists.

Most of the car license fees in this state go to fund schools. Makes perfect sense...

Well, not so much. Actually the DMV exists to ensure that qualified drivers are allowed drivers licenses, and unqualified drivers are not. So our highway experiences aren't like those in third world countries. And also to ensure that motor vehicles are provided license plates and tags so they can pay their fair share for their use of public roads, which are expensive to maintain, and also to allow for title transfers and traffic law enforcement. And yes, horror of horrors....they actually charge relatively modest fees for their services, rather than do it for free. (I pay as much for just two months of cable TV as I do for one year of 2008 car registration. The way I see it, it’s the Time Warner monopoly that’s the rip-off, and not the DMV.)
